Family Trees

When my cousing was here alst week, we started talking about our families and where we have come from. I guess that's not unusual considering we haven't seen each other for over 20 years and she hasn't seen many family members in that time at all.

We are related through our dad's and she didn't know much about her mum's side (her mum died when she was quite young), so I started by looking into her mum's family. I was quite surprised at how quickly I started finding stuff. I have been so inspored that I have started looking into Cal's side of the family. There is no point doing mine, as my mum is well into that. There's no point doubling up. But I think that it's important that my kids know where they came from.

So I started tonight, and got a few details. I have contacted Cal's parents just to confirm some information before I go any further, just in case I am on the wrong track.

I'm very excited. I love this type of stuff.
Wish me luck!!

Having another sook....

http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/6104610/govt-defends-stimulus-package/

And we get NOTHING!!!!
Cal loses his job through no fault of his own, after being a loyal employee and taxpayer for 14 years, and we GET NOTHING. No assistance from teh Government whatsoever, and $82.2mil has gone overseas.
Annoyed!!!!!

I have to stop reading the news. It gets me angry.

Seems so wrong

How is it that a man can lose his life defending this great country of ours, and that the government can't look after his widow and kids financially? People him (and all those who choose to work in our Armed Forces) and their families need to be rewarded for the sacrifices that they make to make this country what it is.

I'm not one to jump on a soapbox in favour of the USA, but I think that when it comes to looking after their troops' families after they have been killed in action, they seem to have it a bit more right.

I may be wrong, there may be more to it, but at this very time, I just feel that Sgt Brett Till's family has been very hard done by.

I'm a shocker!!

I know that I said I was going to update regularly...I'm just plain hopeless. It's about time I just faced it. Should I accept it, or shoudl I actaully do something about it?

I vote for "do something about it".

I have been so slack that I haven't sorted out my photos for over a month either, and when I did it the other day I thought that I really should share some for the family and friends who check here (that is if anyone even does). But they are all on the other computer and will have to wait until antoher time. I will do a pure photo update in teh next couple of days.

Stop laughing!!! I WILL!!

So what's been happening?

Well we shot down to Melbourne about a month ago for a family funeral, and since we got back I have had trouble getting motivated. Well for some things but not others.

Firstly, I am under the care of a Naturopath at the moment to try to ge my body in order. I've been having trouble losing weight, and have been feeling sluggish for ages. She is sorting me out. I am popping all sorts of pills and potions (and some are really not so nice), but they seem to be working. My waist is decreasing, I'm feeling better, sleeping better and feel a lot happier.

I think that I'll keep popping the pills and drinking hte green yucky stuff.

I have been bitten my the spring bug. Cleaning, organising and decluttering. I am going through my wardrobe and being RUTHLESS. I plan on havin gin there only the clothes that I actaully wear, and hoping that I will then know what is actaully in there. Cal and I have a walk-in wardrobe each and mine is CHOCKERS. I have no idea what's in there and can't fit anything else in. How embarrassing!! But I will fix that. One thing at a time.

Bailey needs a bed, so that means changing her whole room around. The bookcase in there needs to come out, so that will go into the study. But of course to fit that in, I need to reorganise the study.

And then there's the wet bar that acts as the kids craft area. I want to be able to get a desktop computer on the bench for them, and also clean out all of the crap that keeps getting piled up on the bench and in the cupboards.

And lastly, the girls seem to be having growth spurts, so none of thier clothes are fitting them. For Ardyn that means just storing the too small stuff and getting new stuff (Size 7!! can you beleive it??!?), but for Bailey it means getting out the boxes of Size 3 clothes that are stored and working out what she needs, and what will fit. Then taking the too small stuff and sorting them into 'toss', 'donate' and 'sell'. THEN doing it.

All of this, plus all the usual everyday stuff that needs to be done makes for a busy life at the moment. I've been trying to make time for me, and haven't been doing too well. I really need ot make a schedule of things to do and stick to it. One step at a time.

Last weekend I had a good one. A little bit more me time. I went out to dinner with a couple of the girls, had some steak and some wines and generally a good night. The following night Cal and I were meeting our mate Dave for dinner. The plans lept sounding strange to me, Cal kept saying that we needed to book for one more than what Ithought we needed. It was all very cloak and dagger.

Dave turned up at dinner with my cousin (actually my dad's cousin) Susan, who I haven't seen for about 20 years. What a surprise!!! A few years ago Dave and I worked out that my long lost cousin Susan was one of his best friends, and he decided to drag her to Sydney to see me! Too cool!!! They stayed on Monday night and then again on Wednesday as thier flight was cancelled due to the horrific dust storms that we had in Sydney. What a chick! I think that we bonded. I love her. And I love Dave for bringing her. Thanks honey!! xx

So other than that, nothing else to report. Cal is still home with us until the financial markets stabilise, the girls are loving Kindy and their friends and I love having my family around me. There are of course some of my dearest friends who aren't with me in my day-to-day life who I miss every day. I hope they know who they are. I love you guys. You are a support to me even from a distance and I appreciate everything that you do.

Clean up days for the next couple. TIme to get rid of all of the dust that has invaded my house. There is meant to be more to come, but I have to clean what's here. It's yuck!

I'm going to leave it there. This has turned into a novel. Sorry if I bored you.
